About the Founder
Dr. Marcus Rushing
MD, MPH, MS — Physician, Public Health Advocate, Founder
Dr. Marcus Rushing is a physician, public health advocate, and the founder of EqualRight2Dream. His journey has been shaped by personal encounters with systemic injustice—experiences that transformed his calling from medicine to advocacy.
While seeking equal protection under the law, Dr. Rushing experienced injustice, homelessness, and the loss of opportunity. Rather than defining his future, these experiences strengthened his resolve to advocate for fairness, accountability, and equal opportunity for others facing systemic barriers.
His lived experience fuels his commitment to advancing advocacy, awareness, and education so that every person—and every future generation—has the opportunity to dream, to thrive, and to reach their full potential.

What is the JustUs Initiative?
The JustUs Initiative is founded on the belief that creating a more just society is a shared responsibility. Inspired by the enduring aspiration to form "a more perfect Union," JustUs calls upon individuals, communities, and institutions to work together to expand opportunity, uphold equal protection under the law, and leave a stronger, more equitable future for the generations that follow.
JustUs is not a Black or White issue; neither is it merely an issue for the privileged or the disadvantaged. It is, fundamentally, a people issue. In a world often divided by our differences, JustUs recognizes "We the People" as our greatest common denominator. It reminds us that justice is not the responsibility of a select few but the shared obligation of us all. Only by working together can we build a society where opportunity is more accessible, fairness is more enduring, and every person—and every child—has the freedom to dream, the opportunity to thrive, and the hope of a brighter tomorrow.
